Small Business Consulting

The hardest part of running a company isn't the business — it's the people.

For the owner who's realized the problem isn't the strategy - it's what happening between the people executing it.

Collaborative Team Meeting

The Strategy Is Fine. The Relationships Aren't.

You've handled the finances and navigated the market. But at some point, you hit a wall that operational skills alone couldn't get you past. A family member who's impossible to manage the way you manage everyone else. A long-term employee who quietly controls more of the culture than you do. A business partner where everything looks fine on the surface and nothing is actually resolved underneath. A team that walks on eggshells around a conflict nobody will name out loud. Most persistent business friction isn't a management failure — it's a relational system problem.

What My Training Makes Possible

My background in Marriage and Family Therapy treats the relational system as the unit of change, not the individual. That training translates directly into the small business context, where the relational system often is the business.

Whole-System Vision

I can see who holds power, who carries anxiety, and who gets pulled into conflicts that aren't theirs — and what role each person is playing in maintaining the pattern.

Multi-Generational Perspective

Family businesses carry history. Patterns from the founding generation shape decisions and relationships today. I'm trained to see and work with that history.

Relational Neutrality

I don't take sides. I hold the whole system — which means everyone in the room can trust the process, not just the owner who hired me.

Clinical Conflict Literacy

I'm trained in why conflict escalates and how to interrupt patterns that keep repeating — not just mediate the surface disagreement.

Structural Clarity

Mapping hierarchies, boundaries, coalitions, and informal power — because dysfunction usually has a structure underneath it.

The Bottom Line

Most dysfunction has a system pattern underneath — a set of relational dynamics reinforced by time. These aren't character flaws. They're system dynamics. And systems respond to a different kind of intervention.

Common Challenges We Address

If any of these sound familiar, the issue probably isn't the people — it's the system they're operating in.

Family members who can't be managed like everyone else in the business.

Business partners who stop agreeing — or stay in constant silent friction.

Role confusion creating parallel power structures that confuse the team.

Owner burnout showing up as irritability, fatigue, and micromanagement.

Conflict that surfaces, gets addressed, and resurfaces in a different form.

A culture that everyone maintains but nobody explicitly chose or wants.

The Process

The Business Relationship Assessment

A structured three-phase diagnostic over 3–4 weeks designed to surface relational patterns. It includes an in-depth session with you, stakeholder conversations, and a findings presentation mapping specific recommendations.

01

Week 1

Owner Intake

A 90-minute deep-dive session with you. We map the system — history, relationships, patterns, and the presenting problem as you understand it.

02

Weeks 2–3

Stakeholder Conversations

2–3 individual, strictly confidential 60-minute conversations with key people in the business. Each person speaks freely, without fear of attribution.

03

Week 4

Findings & Report

A 90-minute findings presentation with all stakeholders, plus a written Relational Systems Report (6–10 pages) mapping patterns, root causes, and structural recommendations.

Ongoing support available. After a completed assessment, a monthly Relational Support retainer ($1,500/month) is available for owners who want sustained, structured guidance as they implement changes.

A Note on Faith

My practice is grounded in a Christian worldview, shaping how I think about leadership, relationships, and stewardship. You don't need to share my beliefs to benefit from this work. What matters is a willingness to look honestly at reality — and act on what you find.
